Overview of Atlas to Atlantic Mountain Biking
Explore Morocco in a thrilling way by mountain biking with Adrar Ecotours! The valleys encircling the High Anti Atlas Mountain Morocco range are dotted with earth and cob villages perched on the mountainside, and century-old walnut trees that overlook terraced fields. Once you’ve conquered the mountains, venture towards the southern coast of Essaouira, where the untamed ocean meets secluded spots that can only be reached through mountain biking Morocco or on foot via winding tracks, part of our Atlas Adventures. Crossing a juniper forest to reach the Lhed Imskern pass; superb view. Descent to the village of Lhed Imskern; feedback to Ifri. The opportunity to admire the agricultural traditions of the Berber mountain people. The irrigated terraces go up very high on the sides of the valley. The upper channel (targa) forms an almost rectilinear boundary between the brown of the mountains and the green of the crops; the villages are built above so as not to lose any arpent of fertile land.
Today we have a very specific objective: to reach the Atlantic coast. As the day progresses, the landscape changes and increasingly emphasizes the proximity of the ocean. We will have splendid perspectives on the valley of the Tamri wadi and on the Moroccan coast. towards Tamri beach where we will see the sunset over the ocean.
We continue along the coast from the cliff, passing impressive limestone ledges. We meet many solitary fishermen. We arrive in the dunes, the landscape is exceptional, a small river leading to the sea; Camp very close to the beach, a very pretty site. There is still a good part of the afternoon and evening to enjoy the sea.
We are in a landscape of hills covered with a forest of argan trees. Crossing villages and cultures to meet the Berbers of Haha.; superb sea views.
Passing through Tafedna, a former Portuguese village now a fishing port, we climb to the plateau covered with argan trees. Here, goats climb the trees to eat the leaves. The coastline is steep and wild. We then descend towards the sea. Swimming is possible (under your own responsibility). Then we continue along the coast, at the foot of the dunes, to the Iftan camp, the most beautiful beach in the region.
Camp in Iftan, a fishing village.
The light is wonderful. Very beautiful landscape of cliffs worked by the salt and the wind, and wild beaches up to the charming village of Sidi Kaouki.
Direction north, passing by the marabout of Sidi Kaouki (place of pilgrimage for women who want to have children), then a traditional fishing village. Balcony path above the coast to reach a series of small dunes that plunge into the sea. Discovery of the old Mogador, the white and blue city (white houses with blue doors and windows). This fishing port, founded by the Portuguese then conquered by the French, is now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a delight to stroll through the medina, the alleys, the fortress, the port. Possibility of swimming on the beach of Essaouira.
