Frequently Asked Questions
Our trips cater to a range of skill levels, but typically are most suitable for riders with intermediate to advanced abilities. An intermediate rider is defined as someone capable of biking for 4 to 5 hours per day, continuously for multiple days. Each trip usually comprises a mixture of slower and faster riders, and we aim to cultivate a strong group dynamic, emphasising that it’s not just about covering the maximum distance, but rather relishing the magnificent scenery and cycling experience with new acquaintances. On occasion, the group may need to wait for others to catch up, and if the division between riders is significant enough to impact the overall enjoyment of the trip, we may opt to divide the group, or utilize our support vehicle, which will consistently accompany the group to transport luggage and assist tired individuals. Regardless of your level of expertise, we recommend that you prepare for the trip by getting in shape beforehand.
All you need to bring for the guided mountain bike ride is yourself and your usual gear for a long ride. Our guides are equipped to handle most trailside repairs and have extra nutrition and water, first aid kits, and other items that you might not be interested in.
However, there are specific items that you must have with you to participate in the guided mountain bike ride. These include appropriate clothing for the weather, and a backpack or waist-pack. Check the Practical Information section of each tour, there’s a list of items including equipment that we think each MTB rider should have.
To comfortably participate in mountain biking, your clothing should allow for a full range of movement without being too loose or baggy. It should ideally provide some protection against the elements and any potential falls. You can wear full-length trousers or shorts and a lightweight, long-sleeved top that is breathable. It is recommended to wear several thin layers of lightweight and breathable clothing, including base layers that will keep you warm in cold and wet weather. Gloves and eyewear are also highly recommended. Our team will provide you with a pack containing all the necessary information once your guided ride is booked. Meanwhile you can always have a look at each tour’s details to learn more.
The short answer is, yes!
It is highly recommended to purchase travel medical insurance and consider obtaining trip cancellation and interruption insurance before embarking on any of our Sacred Rides. We strongly advise participants to secure coverage for their well-being during the trip.
Investing in trip cancellation insurance is particularly advisable to protect against potential financial losses in the event of a personal emergency, illness, or the illness of an immediate family member. Some cancellation policies even extend coverage to mitigate risks like baggage loss and other unforeseen circumstances.
It’s crucial to verify whether your existing travel medical insurance policy, such as one provided by your employer, adequately covers adventure travel, especially mountain bike excursions. Some policies exclude activities categorized as ‘extreme’ sports, and mountain biking often falls within this classification. Ensuring comprehensive coverage will contribute to a worry-free and enjoyable experience throughout your adventure, especially when exploring destinations like Morocco.
